A Taste of Fall in South Carolina! Pumpkin w/Spice Cinnamon Rolls
September is my favorite month of the year. I have split my time this year between South Carolina and Michigan. Fall in South Carolina means more weeks in the year to mow the lawn. The mornings this week have been cooler; 65 in the morning so I am enjoying longer walks. High 80’s to low 90’s during the day. Baking is a year round relaxing activity for me. Many times I tweak recipes to reduce fat and sugar; and then I add in some better for you ingredients such as Chia seeds, wheat bran and Greek yogurt.
Pumpkin was my “better for you” ingredient of choice. I always like to “up” the traditional fall spices when baking/cooking with pumpkin; Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger and Allspice (Clove if you like too!). All spices are NOT EQUAL!
This recipe is for a bread machine. I love to make the dough in the bread machine and then roll the dough, form the cinnamon rolls and bake them traditionally. The satisfaction of working with yeast dough has been one of my learning activities for many (many), years.
THE ART OF THE DOUGH -VERY WHISKY!
TEA TIME OR PERHAPS SWEDISH FIKA! (Cinnamon rolls are one of the best-loved pastry of all among people of Sweden– FIKA aka a Swedish coffee break)
Enjoy your fall! I will be in Michigan for October enjoying all of the fall fruits and vegetables and of course the beautiful fall colors. Squash, pumpkins, pears (I hope) and of course McIntosh apples. I will bring home a good supply of apples for mother (Gail)/daughter pie baking and other goodies. Don’t forget an apple a day too.
I would love to share the recipe. Please go to the CONTACT GAIL page for for information.
