For The Love of Pie!
I love to make homemade pie. Being from the North I lean towards Fruits and Pumpkin. My all time favorite is Rhubarb. I am a Purist when it comes to Rhubarb-“NO STRAWBERRIES ALLOWED”
I am thankful this Thanksgiving 2020 to share my pie baking with someone else who loves to bake pie; my daughter. We each know who is going to do which task. We talk about trading off but usually we stick to our own skills.
We baked
- Pumpkin (not too sophisticated; I use my Betty Crocker Cookbook from 1980
- Apple with a Streusel topping; Betty Crocker also but with some tweaks.
- My favorite apples to bake apple pie with are McIntosh but we don’t find many of those in South Carolina; so we used Fuji.
- I wish I would have added some lemon juice or fresh cranberries to the pie to give it a little tartness.

I do love the pies also of the south also; Sweet Potato and Pecan. Or even a Sweet Potato Pie with Praline Pecans on top.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
